The Mayor of Lorca in office has sent a message of reassurance to the residents as more than 100 troops who moved in more than 30 vehicles and two helicopters have managed to eradicate the fire in record time.
The Acting Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Garcia, Councillor for Environment and Pedanías High, Melchor Morales, and the Agriculture, Angel Mecca, have come in the early hours of this morning the fire that started in the property of The Aragüetes Zarzadilla lorquina hamlet of Totana about 13:42 pm to continue 'in situ' work off the fire.
Garcia has reported that "thanks to the swift action of the hundred troops Firemen, Civil Protection, Local Police, Civil Guard agents displaced forest and in record time until the area has achieved a rapid and efficient fire suppression, but still remains in the area a potential roadblock to meet volunteers. "
Acting Mayor explained that the burnt area is 8 acres mostly wooded area, but also have been affected 2.5 hectares of dry land.
