The Olympic Solidarity is an action study of education and awareness for the solidarity that emerged a few years ago in the Spanish NGO "Youth Cooperation for Development Cooperation."
It wants to see young people that may, but do not have money, get involved in your effort of international cooperation projects and help create a more caring world.
In this way, students show their commitment and solidarity in an active and become players in the process of change that seeks to promote development aid from its own resources.
The VII Olympiad Study for Development will take place this year young people from Spain, Belgium, Britain, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, Slovenia, Brazil, Ivory Coast, Burundi and Kenya.
It is estimated that in this fourth edition more than 25,000 students study in over 300 study rooms spread over these 15 countries.
With the effort of all students are expected to achieve solidarity 350,000 hours of study, which will be converted into 200,000 euros to fund four educational projects.
Projects financed by the Olympic Solidarity Spain
With the money gained in the last Olympics the NGO Cooperation for Development, in collaboration with the Congregation of Daughters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Hearts, Luanda) and the Madre Isabel Larrañaga, has begun construction of new classrooms Integral Education Centre ' Kudilanga or kudizola 'in the town of Pedreira, Municipality of Cacuaco (Angola), with which education can access over 200 new students.
This action, with a budget of € 403,871.73, is running between 2009 and 2010 near the Angolan capital, Luanda, where there are neighborhoods emerged without any government support.
Two of them, Pedereira and 500 houses, are where the project is being developed, Cacuaco.
The nearest school is 7 km.
This year the goal is to get the funding to equip and train 15 teachers who then teach in the school and classroom construction to increase capacity to 200 students so high school.
Also build sports facilities and a medical post.
The center also will develop activities to support young women who are in extreme poverty.
How to participate

Drawing Contest

This has been divided two categories: From 11 to 18 B over 18 years.
The work must propose an alternative name for the main poster image of the seventh Olympiad Study Solidarity, capture the spirit of the activity and encourage participation.
The proposals will go to the Web from 26 October to 5 December 2009, while voting will take place from November 5 to December 13, 2009.
The organization has established a prize for each category of 11 to 18 years: a gift voucher of € 120 in school supplies, and for over 18 years: a trip to visit the Angola project which has been studied.
The winner will be accompanied at all times by an official of the NGO to cover the cost of ticket, visa, accommodation and meals.
