Jódar Francisco, announced that Saturday will be present at the demonstration before the Ministry for Rural Affairs, says the pantry Europe can not be left unknown and supports "point by point" the demands of the sector
The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar has urged the Prime Minister's Office, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, to seize the presidency of the European Union that our country holds in the first half of 2010, to enforce the Union within the specific weight of agriculture and livestock in Spain.
Francisco Jodar said that "Zapatero has a golden opportunity to move to all EU member countries that Europe must protect the interests of our farmers and ranchers.
We can not leave it to our pantry unknown.
Today we have a production in agriculture which is a role model.
What would be very damaging for the whole Union would forget our field.
The Prime Minister has a duty to protect the interests of our professionals in the field.
We can not give more.
Farmers and ranchers in Lorca have seen time and again its products have suida used as currency to foreign interests.
They have endured much and fought against all odds.
This country has an outstanding debt to the agricultural sector and it is time that the Government of Spain meets our field.
Precisely in these times of crisis is when most we need to stand up, because, locally, we are talking about the ultimate socio-economic engine of our region, and national and European level is key to strengthening economic diversification " .
The mayor has announced that Lorca will be attending the event next Saturday at the Ministry for Rural Affairs in Madrid, next to the council of Agriculture, Angel Mecca, and Water, Melchor Morales, in a press appearance with the president of Coag Lorca, Salvador Abellaneda, and the representative of Asaja in Lorca, José Miguel Martínez.
Jódar noted that the city of Lorca supports the claims point by point in the industry, most notably the establishment of fair prices for agricultural products and agricultural market regulation and greater transparency in the prices of agricultural inputs and review the regulatory framework for electricity supply to farms.
Lorca Mayor has backed also by a proper tax to the taxable capacity of the sector, the definition of a plan of financing and refinancing of the agricultural sector, along with a strong CAP beyond 2013, with sufficient budget.
The Mayor has signed Asaja approaches, COAG and UPA, which indicated that the problems of the countryside in recent years can be summarized in one phrase: lack of profitability of farming.
Today we can say that all sectors are in crisis, from dairy to grain through the wine, fruit and vegetables, sheep, pigs.
If you dig a little, no doubt that the serious situation facing the agricultural sector stems from a profound crisis of market prices of our products and production costs sunk fired.
It is unfair and unsustainable that the price of our products is below production costs.
ASAJA Agricultural Organisations, COAG and UPA believe that this dramatic situation, which crosses the Spanish countryside, only unequivocal commitment solved from the immediate, explicit and public administrations of all farmers and ranchers through start-up a series of measures to restore the viability of farms and to ensure fair prices for agricultural products.
