The Directorate General of Planning, Evaluation and Environmental Control with the City of Lorca, have been carried out at the fairgrounds in Santa Quiteria, a conference aimed at raising awareness of the EMAS system, which deals with the management at European level between pig sector, which was attended by the Director General of Planning, Evaluation and Environmental Control, Francisco José Espejo and aldermen Melchor Morales, Angel Mecca and Francisco García.
The EMAS is a system-management and environmental audit was initiated in 1995 for organizations on a voluntary basis, wish to evaluate and improve their performance in this area.
Both the Directorate General as the municipality of Lorca consider it a priority to spread the implementation of this environmental management system, by encouraging the screening and recognition at regional, national and international sector export-oriented.
The organization of this event reflects the commitment that both institutions have with the regional food sector.
Currently, there are 20 companies in the Region of Murcia are registered in the EMAS register.
Among other advantages, allows continuous improvement of environmental performance of the company or organization, public communication of their progress through the publication of an environmental statement which are reflected all their efforts, improved control and optimization of material consumption raw materials and energy, reducing costs in transport, storage and packaging, reduced risk of accidents and therefore the costs, increased worker training and the adoption of an active policy against existing legislation and future environmental regulations may affect the company.
On the other hand, EMAS allows improving the image of the company towards its customers, management, employees, investors, media, advocacy groups, the environment and the general public.
One of the strengths of the day was the presentation of the study on the status of companies regarding their environmental situation, which has been performed using basic content of the Environmental Statement required to obtain the EMAS II.
Furthermore, it has presented the Guidelines for the preparation of the environmental statement required to obtain the EMAS II in the pig sector, as a useful tool that the administration will bring, free of charge, to serve those enterprise sector can join the EMAS registration.
