Ecologists in Action have submitted complaints to the city of Lorca and the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, denouncing the episodes of air pollution and deteriorating air quality PM10 microparticles detected by the regional network of stations measuring pollutant
The exceedances of limit values for particulate matter with the consequent deterioration of air quality in Murcia should be sought in the increase in emissions from road traffic, industrial activities and certain agricultural tasks to which they had joined some episodes Saharan dust intrusion in the mid of the month.
The environmental organization alleged that during the month November, have exceeded the limit value of protecting the health of suspended particles, which is 50 micrograms per cubic meter in the following areas
LORCA Station
15/11/2009- 63 micrograms / cubic meter
16/11/2009- 73 ug/m3
17/11/2009- 82 ug/m3

It is especially worrying for nine days of the month November metering station contaminants Lorca; has had exceedances of the limit value for public health protection, with episodes that have reached 72 micrograms per cubic meter.
The PM10 microparticles suspended in the atmosphere are causing serious health problems.
These particles penetrate the lower respiratory tract and cause serious conditions to ducts and respiratory system.
Particles PM10 pollutants can cause respiratory diseases, asthma, and aggravation of allergic conditions, emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cardiovascular problems, including
Ecologists in Action complaint inactivity and passivity of the authorities to repeated episodes of deterioration of air quality has not taken any action in recent years to prevent these episodes of deteriorating air quality.
Ecologists in Action said that while it can do little about Saharan dust emissions, or the city of Lorca and the Ministry have plans of action to control emissions from road traffic and industrial (Royal Decree 1073/2002, of 18 October on the evaluation and management of air quality in relation to sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen oxides, particulate matter, lead, benzene and carbon monoxide)
