The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, along with the Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, director of the Fundación Antena 3, Carmen Bieger, the general director of the Institute of Road Safety Foundation Mapfre, Julio Laria, and the regional director in the Guadalentín Cajamurcia, Antonio Pascual Martinez, presented the 'Road Safety Week Lorca 2010', to be held from 19 to 24 April in the exhibition of Santa Quiteria of Lorca.
During the event, also presented the Road Safety Competition Brake Put Junior, a competition aimed at primary and secondary schools in the region.
The mayor explained that the purpose of 'Road Safety Week Lorca 2010', organized by the municipality of Lorca, the regional government, the Fundación Antena 3 and the Mapfre Foundation, in collaboration with the Public Transport Murcia and Cajamurcia Foundation, is to encourage more young on the importance of road safety and respect for traffic rules, through didactic activities such as tours, animation, drama, games, drills and workshops, which are expected to attend more than 15,000 children from different parts of the Region.
In this regard, the Minister of Public Works has stated that "this week complements the series of initiatives undertaken by the regional government, through the Public Transport Authority, to improve child road safety, such as PAPI Plan (Plan For Child Safety in Public and Private Buses).

Jódar Francisco noted that among the different activities taking place throughout the week include various circuits of driver education organized by the local police of the municipality in which the children will test their knowledge of traffic rules and notions road safety.
