The Mayor Councillor of the Municipality of Lorca, Mari Carmen Ruiz, has been reported that the city council is today launching a new initiative for seniors to enjoy their free time at the same time improve their health through the practice of moderate physical activity.
This is the program called "Pathways to Health", which opens this evening with the talk "If you walk you'll feel better."
Jódar Ruiz explained that "this is an original initiative promoted by the City to get one of the largest city on active aging.
We can not forget that physical inactivity is a risk factor in the development of arterial disease, cardiovascular and other like obesity or hypertension, and therefore any physical activity is considered beneficial to health and is very advisable to walk as with moderate activity produces the best health benefits. "
From the Department of the Mayor reported that this program was inaugurated with a conference, funded by the Social Work of the CAM, which took place yesterday evening at the Center's Major Open from 5 and a half.
Its title is "If you walk you'll feel better" and was taught by Silvia Guzmán Morales, Bachelor of Science in Sport and Physical Activity, Master of Physical Education and Health and a PhD in Health Sciences.
The hiking trails begin on Wednesday, March 3 at 9 am and runs through urban areas and several provincial roads.
The activity is repeated every Wednesday and Friday departing from the Mayor's Open Centre.
Jódar Ruiz reported that the duration of the activity is 90 minutes and participants will be accompanied by a specialized instructor Diploma in Physical Education who shall mark the routes and rates to participants so that everyone older who want to join this activity can.
