The Governing Council has approved the declaration of cultural interest, with archaeological zone category for the site 'The Captain' of Lorca, located in an area known as Black Hill.
This is a set of sites with different times of prehistoric occupation, which are represented both the outdoor habitat and cave as the burial areas and cemeteries.
Highlights the important and complex in the village cemetery dating from the Neolithic megalithic Final-Old Neolithic.
The village is one of the sites in the Copper Age oldest Spanish Southeast, and may represent one of the first agricultural settlements.
The necropolis associated with the town is the one with the largest number of megalithic burials documented to date in the Region of Murcia.
The set is a basic reference for the study of early Neolithic communities of the southeastern Spanish, enabling a broader knowledge of funerary rituals, the economy and society.
Its location next to a natural route of step study provides elements to define the relations of the territories west of Murcia in Spain.
