The Socialist Councillor Maria Ponce warned of the worsening of unemployment data in Lorca in the last month.
Ponce said that while the rise in unemployment stood at 2% nationally and 2.45% in the region, the figure of Lorca rose to 3.13%.
By contrast, in neighboring towns like Puerto Lumbreras unemployment fell (-0.41%) or has shown signs of recovery (1.89% Eagles, Totana 1.94%).
Moreover, the Municipal Group Socialist presented at the next plenary session a motion to request that they start to take measures to improve the quality of life for over 7,400 unemployed Lorca.
Specifically, Ponce start asking the urban transport free for the unemployed in the municipality.
The PSOE mayor said he is convinced that Lorca that are in such difficult circumstances "may move with greater ease and freedom, taking into account that more than half live in hamlets and need to move to the city center to make arrangements, seek employment and training.
Creating a fund
Therefore, the Socialist councilor PP require the creation of a fund to set up a measure that is already underway in many Spanish cities like Seville, Tarragona, Málaga, among others, and that is also being requested by various associations unemployed and unions.
In this regard, said that the obligation of government closest "to protect and assist people who are faring worse."
