The Councillor for Culture of the Municipality of Lorca, Rosa Medina, has opened this morning at the Municipal Archaeological Museum the V International Symposium of Young medievalists, organized by the Centre for Medieval Studies at the University of Murcia, which is based in Lorca.
Medina emphasized that "from today until Friday Lorca hosting this important meeting on the history of the Middle Ages, with the participation of 16 historians from different Spanish universities and Argentina, making reference to such meetings."
The Councillor said "once again has exceeded the number of papers submitted in previous years.
Specifically, this issue has received 83 works from a dozen countries, focusing on studies of economic or social history, art history, archeology, medieval literature, iconography, history of women, thought political, legal history, medicine, among others. "
Rosa Medina has stressed that "this is the first edition of this biennial symposium itself is organized by the Center for Medieval Studies Lorca, once agreement was signed between the City and the University of Murcia for its formation in late 2008. "
The Archaeological Museum will host this morning the exhibition of four works on the Andalusian world and this afternoon as many on sexuality in those days, while tomorrow morning the five lectures will focus on analyzing the economy of the Middle Ages, as the Later, participants visit the castle of the city, "La Fortaleza del Sol."
The meeting will end on Friday morning at the Hotel Jardines de Lorca, after three conferences on the clergy of the Middle Ages.
